Disgrace: Fiona Onasanya MP
Politics and ethical behaviour

On 19th December 2018, after a re-trial, Onasanya was found guilty of perverting the course of justice for lying to police to avoid a speeding fine, a conviction she unsuccessfully sought to secure permission to appeal. Her expulsion from the Labour Party, effective in December 2018, was announced in January 2019. On 29 January 2019, she was sentenced to imprisonment for three months, becoming the first sitting female Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom to be jailed.
