The flights are resumed at Gatwick airport this morning. The airport had been closed since Wednesday evening, 19th December 2018, due to one or more drones that appeared several times at the runways. Around 120,000 UK passengers were affected and the knock-on effect is difficult to gage..

Drones in Dutch airspace

In the Netherlands, it occurs annually around fifty times that drones are seen in the vicinity of airports, says a spokesperson for Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL). The LVNL takes care of notifications from pilots, because drones are not visible on the radar.
